Two-third of the way through the season and things are still a complete mess in Major League Soccer. This may be the closest season we have seen in a long time, if ever. Mainly because of parity and because from week to week we just never know what will exactly happen like we think we do (I’m speaking for myself and probably every other pundit).
As much change as there could have been this weekend we didn’t shift around too many clubs. One did manage it’s way to the top thanks to a stumble by the previous top dog (New England). The Revs held that top spot for a while here so it is weird to see them elsewhere again. It almost feels like April again when you think about how things are going here.
Okay, its not that crazy but its pretty damn close. Continue Reading…

Now that the league is back on a regular pace for games in a week, things get a little tougher in figuring out who had a better week AND who had a better goal. Week 21 was just that, we had seven solid matches with different players coming up bigger than others and loads of goals that were tough to shift through.
It’s amazing how one weekend can change the landscape of things in Major League Soccer. That’s exactly what happened in week 21. A couple big time wins by a couple clubs and a couple big time upsets.
I think this weekend will be all about breaking through the mold or crumbling even more for some MLS clubs. The gridlock in the middle of the standing should lighten up a bit here as well. We are right at that two-thirds mark of the season and this season has proved that everyone is nearly in contention here based on the standings after 18 or 19 games. I don’t think desperation will set in for some clubs yet but it is getting close to that time for those border playoff clubs to get their stuff in gear.
