What can I say I’ve been a bad US Men’s National team fan lately. I haven’t really taken the time to discuss the recent friendlies and I’ll be brutally honest I didn’t watch the Poland game over the weekend nor will I probably watch the Colombia game tomorrow.

In a way I am just struggling to care about these friendlies right now. The biggest thing for me is my lack of care for Poland or Colombia. Just hard to get up for friendlies sometimes.

Its nothing against the US team, I still got love for them by the truck load. I’m pumped to see Brek Shea finally getting a callup and hear that Jermaine Jones looked like the real deal (based on all the hype I’ve seen today about him).

The fact of the matter is I may be a little burnt out on the subject at the moment. I guess its a post World Cup/post Bob Bradley re-signing burnt out on my part.

Maybe its the fact that I really don’t agree with random friendlies during this time of the year. I get the need of bringing in new talent to try out but that’s never easy to do with the MLS season near its end and the European leagues just getting into the flow of their seasons.

I may tune in tomorrow for the Colombia game and I may not. We’ll just have to wait and see.

If you’re looking for some fresh faces in camp for Bob Bradley for the next two friendlies coming up against Poland and Colombia then think again. Bradley called in a boat load of usuals from Europe probably due to the MLS playoffs that are about to get underway.

Either way there wasn’t too many shockers. I was happy to see Eric Lichaj on the list. He’s a guy who needs to be on your radar if he isn’t already. The rest of you will likely be happy to finally see Jermaine Jones on the list. Hopefully this time we’ll actually see him in uniform.

Only a couple MLSers were called up and both were FC Dallas players, Heath Pearce and Brek Shea. I’ve been saying for a while how bad Bradley needed to call up Shea. My bet neither of those two will report to camp until after the Colorado match on the 9th of October.

But the biggest shocker for me was Eddie Johnson. I get not seeing Robbie Findley or Brian Ching but Johnson? Really? I thought we were done using him.

Here’s the roster, what do ya think?

GOALKEEPERS (2): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton)
DEFENDERS (8): Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Étienne), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover), Clarence Goodson (IK Start), Eric Lichaj (Aston Villa), Oguchi Onyewu (AC Milan), Michael Parkhurst (FC Nordsjaelland), Heath Pearce (FC Dallas), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United)

MIDFIELDERS (7): Alejandro Bedoya (Örebro), Michael Bradley (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Benny Feilhaber (Aarhus), Stuart Holden (Bolton Wanderers), Jermaine Jones (FC Schalke), Brek Shea (FC Dallas)

FORWARDS (3): Jozy Altidore (Villarreal), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Eddie Johnson (Fulham)

Yeah, I’m not gonna pretend to know everything there is about international football/soccer/futbol. But with the Euro 2008 tournament kicking off tomorrow, I thought I would post a video or two to hype everyone else up. Consider this my preview of the tournament if you will.

Its not that I’m not jazzed up for it (because I totally am), its I don’t have enough time or energy right now to preview it like Ives or someone else out there.

As for who I’m rooting for…well seeing how I am a Swede, the boys in yellow will be the ones I will follow closely but once they exit the tournament (which they will probably after group play) I will probably lean towards Portugal or Italy winning it all. Everyone is high on someone like Croatia or Spain, but I’m still hoping Sweden can be that dark horse if their defense holds up.

Who are you all rooting for? Let’s hear it.
