Juan Carlos Osorio is back in MLS.

ESPNLosAngeles.com is reporting that Chivas USA is set to hire Osorio as the team’s newest head coach.

Osorio will be coaching his third MLS team in four years and the team’s sixth coach in seven years (seventh if you include an interim coach in 2005). He helped turn the Chicago Fire in 2007 into a Eastern Conference finalist only to leave the club the following winter to go to New York. He took the Red Bulls to the MLS Cup in 2008 but then had a disastrous season in 2009, one of the worst teams in league history.

Chivas is in need of direction as they’ve lost both club CEO/president and their VP of soccer operations. I’d imagine Osorio will get a lot of freedom to run the ship in his direction which is not a bad thing at all as long as he has the right players for his style of play. We’ve seen him take half-decent teams and turn them into winners before so it can happen with this bunch.

What do you all make of Osorio landing back in MLS?

(Getty Images)" width="300" height="200" />
Juan Carlos Osorio didn't help matters in New York. (Getty Images)

Not much was good in 2009 for the New York Red Bulls. Fresh off a trip to the MLS Cup in 2008 many thought this could be a break out season for the club. Instead the season got started with a bang in a bad way by losing to an expansion club on opening day 3-0 in Seattle. The Red Bulls failed to get a win until the middle of April and by the time summer had rolled around the club had already lost seven games out of 12 regular season matches.

The times the Red Bulls did win was at home, all five wins came at home against clubs that had terrible road records on the year like Dallas, Real Salt Lake, San Jose and Toronto. Their only good win of the year came at home against the Columbus Crew on a day that saw the club reach it’s only winning streak of the season.

You could blame a lot of the season on poor coaching by Juan Carlos Osorio early on. Osorio changed the line-ups with this club more than most of us change clothes in a week. It seemed as though every time we turned around there was a different person in the starting lineup for Osorio. Throw that in with the fact that Osorio and Jeff Agoos made terrible calls on player pickups and the Red Bulls got to where they are at today.

When Osorio stepped down Richie Williams stepped in for the interim role. Not much changed but the club did win more games under Williams than Osorio. Still the club never won a road game all season and their winless streak on the road is growing still to this date.

So with the theme that I plan on using with all MLS clubs this year when I review their season I plan on asking a couple questions to sum things up. What went right? What went wrong? And what is next?

What Went Right In 2009?
Not much went right in 2009 but the five games that were won were done in mostly big ways when the offense actually came alive and was mostly healthy. Big results like 5-0 over Toronto on the season finale, 4-1 over San Jose, or even the 2-0 win over RSL. One could say the Red Bulls did draw six games on the year and while that isn’t bad it isn’t great either. Four of their draws did come before the All-Star break and only one was a shutout.

What Went Wrong In 2009?
Just about everything. Moves that were made never panned out to anything. Key players were hurt nearly all season like Juan Pablo Angel. The defense was by far the worst the league has seen in a couple years. You can’t have a -20 goal differential on the season and consider it good. It was certainly a season that Red Bull fans will want to forget and forget quickly.

What’s Next?
For starters finding a coach that actually understands the league setup. New York has had an issue with stability in coaching over the years and that has caused them to be the mess that they are today. Is Richie Williams the right guy for the club? Possibly but I see him going to DC instead. After finding a coach they need to gut this team. If anything this club needs to be a bit more like LA by getting the right mix of young and old on this roster. They’ve signed too many old guys that basically come here and contribute nothing. And they get too many young guys that are overrated and produce nothing. Rebuilding is going to be rough for a club that will want to do a lot for their move to Red Bull Arena. I have no doubt we will see plenty of money spent this winter by this club but it is only a matter of time before we see how well that money was actually spent.

Instead of waiting on the pink slip, Juan Carlos Osorio took it upon himself to pull a Fernando Clavijo and resign from the New York Red Bulls. Not many details are out yet but a conference call is set for a couple hours from now.

Ives, the New York Post and others are all reporting it.

It looks like assistant coach Richie Williams is set to be the interim coach, a move that I said would be a smart one by the Red Bulls if they’d just pull the trigger on Osorio. Those in New York may recall Williams stepping in when Mo Johnston got the boot a few years back. His record as an interim coach was 4-3-2 In all competitions.

Osorio leaves New York with very little. He proved he really couldn’t coach in Major League Soccer after all, going 21-31-21 (including playoffs).

Now for the brass to get rid of Jeff Agoos and really clean up the mess there would be a start. Most are saying Osorio and Agood never saw eye to eye, which would explain a lot of things.

Jeff Agoos and Juan Carlos Osorio have messed up a lot of player picks, thankfully rookie Jermey Hall isn't going to be one of them.

Red Bull fans can celebrate something, the two men responsible for this terrible season will not return in 2010 according to Stefon Bondy of The Bergen Record (NJ). Juan Carlos Osorio and Jeff Agoos will not return with the club next year.

“They know it’s important to make this move, but they know the problem isn’t just about one or two people,” a source told the Record. “With the new stadium opening, the team is approaching one of the most critical points in its history.”

From the sound of things nothing will happen until after this season finishes. It is still weird that the owners would let this terrible season ride out with Agoos and Osorio still kind of weird. Instead of letting assistant coach Richie Williams take over for the remaining part of the season would make sense but nothing has made sense in New York this season.

Who the club will go after in the off season will definitely be a story to follow. Let’s hope for Red Bull fans sake they go after someone who can actually coach and scout in this league.

After 17 minutes into the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League play-in stage, the New York Red Bulls who had seen their MLS season go to waste took a 1-0 lead over the visiting Trinidad and Tobago side W Connection. Everything was looking good and looking as if the club could actually have something to play for in the final months of the season. But before the end of the first half the Red Bulls went from being up 3-2 in the series to down 4-3.

In the blink of the eye the season is now officially over.

I’ll be brief with this thought about the Red Bulls. It is time to start blowing this club up. It starts with at least two men, Jeff Agoos and Juan Carlos Osorio. While I think the owners of the energy drink may hold off on JCO due to possibly having to buy out his contract. I do believe it is time to get rid of Agoos though who has been just as much to blame on the roster construction as Osorio. I mean in his time with New York, Agoos has turned into the Isaiah Thomas of soccer (without the sexual harassment issues).

Bad signing after bad signing got them here. Poor coaching didn’t help either.

After ridding themselves of those two parts they need to re-do this roster that is full of parts that just don’t work. I think it starts with getting good young American talent into the mix for once and to stop relying on aging talent from abroad that just doesn’t work out in this league. Throw in some veteran players that can contribute and then maybe get a couple foreign parts that fit the league’s style of play.

With a new stadium opening up next spring the owners need to make a serious splash with this club. Give the fans something to be excited to see on the field. The few that are left like those who showed up last night deserve much better than this.

Thing is after JCO and Agoos, what do you do with this club?

(Getty Images)" width="233" height="155" />
Somehow this man still has a job. (Getty Images)

In light of Kansas City dismissing manager Curt Onalfo yesterday evening, I figured it was high time I updated my coaching hot seat look once again. Funny thing was yesterday I was already set to work on this and got caught up in something else, by the time I went back into it last night the news came down about Onalfo.

And yes, if you are wondering he was going to be on the list.

But looking at the rest of the sack race here I figure it is easier to break things up into a couple different groups. See we all figure coaches with clubs near the bottom of the table need sacked but in the case of a couple teams, that just won’t happen, at least not this season. In other cases there are a couple coaches that should feel some heat based on how their clubs are doing and based on pre-season expectations placed on them. Lastly, there is a group that just needs to go and saying that it really could be just a matter of time.

As always if you think I am missing on any coach below or think I need to add another to a certain group, feel free to post below.

The Heat Is On But They Don’t Mind

In this group we have two coaches that very well have every right to be fired (except based on this past weekend’s results for each). Of course I am speaking of FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman and San Jose Earthquakes coach Frank Yallop. Each have lead their club to a fairly unsuccessful campaign so far and up until the thrashings they put up this past week each side had little to be gitty over this season.

Neither seem to be under any sort of pressure from their ownership. Hyndman for one pretty much has the job security that anyone would want these days. Most around Dallas view that the job is his for however long he wants to keep it. In San Jose it may be a little different for Yallop but I don’t see GM John Doyle parting ways with Yallop anytime soon. We’ll talk this time next season if things haven’t changed out there and the club is still near the bottom of the pecking order.

Feeling Some Heat

This category is a bit different, its for those that aren’t expected to get a pink slip today but could down the line if things don’t turn out like expected. Based on high pre-season expectations and some owners that like to stay active with their clubs I see two coaches that could feel some heat if things don’t go as planned. Now this category will get me some heat and I know that but if you strip emotion out of things for a second and think about it, these two guys do have rights to be on this watch list.

Tom Soehn (DC United): I put Soehn on here yet again for a number of reasons. While DC has enjoyed a decent campaign so far this year, a lot still hasn’t gone very well. With a 6-4-10 record, one could say that United are just slightly above average. Being one of the worst clubs in the league when it comes to keeping a lead and coming up lame at home in the CCL play-in round last week could get Soehn in some hot water if his club doesn’t turn things around. A lot will depend on if his club can get into the group stage of the CCL and how far DC goes in the MLS Playoffs this year in regards to his job status this winter. I think he is safe for now but there is definitely some heat there in DC.

Denis Hamlett (Chicago): One guy that not a lot of folks will want to see on here is Hamlett. I put him here because his club continues to confuse me. Very good on the road but very below average at home. I know he has had to deal with injuries to key guys, along with loads of international call-ups this season but who hasn’t here? Chicago has all the talent to win MLS Cup this year but with home play against strong clubs the way it is one has to worry about their chances. Don’t worry Fire fans, the heat is low but if you base things on expectations and things don’t pan out, then you should be worried.

Pink Slip Coming Soon

Last and certainly not least is the category that is pretty self explainitory. Most of you know who will be in this category but some of you will not like one of the coaches mention here. For months I got a lot of negative comments over placing KC’s Onalfo on the coaching hot seat based on not getting his club to progress the way people thought they should, well the same story is going on elsewhere in the league.

Jason Kreis (RSL): I put Kreis on here for a reason, like Onalfo his club really hasn’t progressed at all during his time. Sure he got them to the playoffs a season ago but their record wasn’t a thing at all to brag about (10-10-10). The same old story has been here this season, good for the most part at home, yet terrible on the road. I think Kreis can be a good coach in this league since he grew up in the system and knows how it works. I just don’t see him progressing any further in Salt Lake at this point. I don’t see him getting the boot during this season unless they start dropping games like flies. If they fail to reach the playoffs I think the ownership will have to take hard look at where this club is going with Kreis.

Juan Carlos Osorio (New York): Yeah this one really does go without saying. A lot of people wonder why he hasn’t been canned yet. Well it is simple, the ownership at the Energy Drink is waiting to see how the club does in the CCL play-in round. I think a lot depends on if they progress forward in that competition before they let Osorio go. If they do progress I don’t see him getting fired until after the MLS season is over. With little to play for it doesn’t make sense on spending money to get another head coach in there now. More than likely he will finish out the rest of the season with the club and be let go after that.

Let’s just say tonight’s clash in Giant’s Stadium will be an interesting one to tune into if you can. While the Red Bulls are embarking on one of the worst seasons in league history, the LA Galaxy are hoping their chances of reaching the playoffs for the first time in a couple years continue to grow as they get the return of David Beckham.

A lot of hype is going into this game due to the new book out by Grant Wahl (great read if you haven’t picked it up already). Thing is it probably won’t nearly be enough hype to get this game to the level it was two years ago at Giant’s Stadium when 66,000+ were on hand to witness an epic 5-4 clash between the Red Bulls and Galaxy. The Red Bulls won that first Beckham meeting.

This isn’t your 2007 Galaxy, nor is it your 2008 Galaxy. While Beckham has been off in Europe these last couple months the mix of young and old has served Bruce Arena pretty well. Even with only 24 points in the standings, the Galaxy are in playoff contention. That’s something the previous two Galaxy clubs couldn’t say at this point in the season.

I think we can expect a physical game tonight between these two sides. The biggest question will be how Beckham is used on the field for Arena. Currently the Galaxy do well by holding enough possession early to grab a goal and then allow their defense to sit back to get points.

The Red Bulls are faced with their 20th match of the season tonight. They are still a bit banged up with injuries here though several players are slowly starting to get healthy. Which may be good for their CONCACAF Champions League games but it may not mean they will be back for tonight’s game. Defensively the Red Bulls still have too many questions and that may be enough for Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle to do their work in front of the net.

I do see this game being closer than some would imagine with the way the Galaxy have played in recent weeks. The addition of Beckham makes it tougher for Arena I believe. The balance is there for him to step in and just play his game. But the bigger question will be how his teammates respond. I have no doubt the Galaxy will come through with points in this one but the points will most likely be a result of Donovan than Beckham.

New York will make it interesting as long as Juan Pablo Angel is finding space around the penalty box. If he can get just a little bit open I think he could be real dangerous against a fairly young Galaxy defense. In the end though I think LA returns home with a rare three points on an east coast road trip.

WVH Prediction: LA 2, New York 1

It’s a rough time to be a New York Red Bull or even be a fan of the Red Bulls. After 19 games the club is in dead last in the league standings and with only 11 games remaining on the season slate many wonder where this club is heading including ownership over in Austria.

Players are questioning many things right now and some like Juan Pablo Angel have gone as far to say as he’s never been in a situation like this ever before.

If we weren’t in the situation that we’re in right now, I wouldn’t have played today,” Angel told Goal.com.

“I’ve never been in this situation in my entire career, especially at this level. We only have 13 field players in the squad and I find that shocking. But I guess that’s the way it is. There’s obviously something we’re doing wrong here — to be at this level and not have sufficient players to fill the bench.”

While owners and players question where the club is going one has to think that Juan Carlos Osorio and maybe even technical director Jeff Agoos could be seeing a pink slip in the very near future. Since the club owns the league’s worst record at 2-13-4 and with only 10 points through nearly two-thirds of their season I question more and more not of whether or not Osorio and company will have jobs soon but if the club has enough in the tank to get even to 20 points on the season when it is all said and done.

Its a tough question to ask of this club since they are playing so poorly and are going pretty much no where anytime soon. Their schedule has beaten them down pretty badly but does let up a lot in the final months of the season, even with two CONCACAF Champions League games against Trinidad and Tobago side W Connection.

We knew going into this summer that the Red Bulls had a tough time cut out for them on the road. But out of their final 11 games they do have seven home games, including a five-game stretch against some western conference clubs and a couple eastern rivals.

One would have to think that out of those five games the Red Bulls could get at least 10 points right? Let’s look at it, their 20th game of the year is a big one against the LA Galaxy (with the MLS return of David Beckham). That one will be a circus that they could win or at least draw I would think. A trip to Colorado is after that before the All-Star break, I’d nearly go ahead and put a loss in the column for that trip.

But after the two games with W Connection we see the five game home stand. Chivas, Dallas, Columbus, New England and KC all come to town. Now we have no idea how clubs will be in a month or so but let’s say for fun the Red Bulls get two draws, two losses and a win out of this stretch. It’s possible and probably pretty fair to say.

After that however comes another three game roadie out west to San Jose, Chivas and RSL. I can’t imagine this group winning on the road in any of those places right now. Maybe a draw if they are lucky in San Jose but that is about it.

Last but not least is a home game on the final week of the season against Toronto. I fully expect TFC to be battling out for a playoff spot that week and will be needing the three points in a big way while New York can just play that lovely spoiler role.

So is ten points too much to ask for from this side in their final 11 games? I see it being possible but with the moral of this club being so low it would be hard to imagine anything better than what we are seeing out of them right now.

What do you think? Can the Red Bulls get to 20 points on the year when the season is over or will they be stuck in the teens and become one of the worst ever?

I blame the holiday weekend for getting me off to a late start here this week. Plus throw in the fact that I am a homeowner now all the trips to Home Depot and places like that are easily killing off any spare second over the weekend. Oh well, no time to bitch and moan about that but time to get down to business once again this week.

I felt looking at the results and each game this past week that week 16 was really predictable. I know I missed a couple games in my score predictions but aside from the RSL-San Jose game this week lacked a lot of surprise or anything worth getting overly excited about. Maybe that is the dog-days of summer kicking in here for the league but each result was as predictable as the next on Saturday.Which can be a good thing but can also be a bad thing.

RSL Gets Lucky Late

I’ll start with the first game of the week on Friday here today. Something can certainly be said about Real Salt Lake nearly losing at home to San Jose while dominating the bulk of the game. Kudos to the Quakes for their defense for the first 90 minutes of the game. Unlucky was certainly the own-goal to Chris Leitch. Sometimes the ball bounces that way folks.

But looking at this result for RSL I begin to really question this club going forward this season. Certainly some pieces were missing but I still felt they had the side on the field that should have won this game. I just feel that they are certainly missing a piece or two here though. I like Robbie Findley and Yura Movsisyan but neither are the go-to striker that this club needs to depend on. Findley can be too hot and cold while Movsisyan tends to miss the easiest of shots. Then I look at their defense and wonder if they have the talent to hold up against clubs like Houston or Chivas in the playoffs. Right now I just don’t see them getting there.

Red Bulls On The Brink

The few that cover this Red Bull club up in New York are all saying the same thing today. “The Season on the Brink.” Well with the most games played (19) and the most losses (13) and the fewest points (10), yeah you could say they are on the brink. Honestly they’ve been done for a lot longer than that. I said in my season preview for this club that they’d either be a good playoff club or an underachieving side.

One thing that is amazing is how long Juan Carlos Osorio has kept his job here. After nearly two-thirds of the season being complete and his club is this bad, many would think he’d be gone already. I kind of have a feeling he will be there until the end of the season. That is unless he decises he has had enough before then and leaves on his own terms via Fernancdo Clavjio.

I think the only thing that can be said for Osorio at this point is the couple players he draft this year that have turned out to be pretty good. Jeremy Hall and Nick Zimmerman both definitely show a bright spot for this club’s future. Comes to show that you can’t win on over priced foreign talent alone in this league, you need quality young talent to do work too.

Dallas Gaining

Much can be said about winning 2-1 at home but a lot more can be said about how it was done. Dallas got a huge lift getting New York in town this past week. Not only were the Red Bulls a fairly easy test but it gave way for guys lik Jeff Cunningham to break the club out of a bit of a funk when the club doesn’t have Kenny Cooper in the line-up. I liked the combination of Cunningham and former Red Bull Dave van den Burgh on Saturday for Dallas. Some how it worked but sadly enough we won’t get use to it here once Cooper returns.

Still on another note Dallas has a long way to go here. No doubt they won’t be in contention to reach the playoffs out of the west this season. But they are slowly building a decent base for next year.

Houston Returns To Winning

After a small slide for the Dynamo the league leaders return to the road in Kansas City and get a quality win. The Dynamo get another win, their ninth of the season and become the first club to break the 30 point mark in the standings.

Houston really handled the pressure well late as Kansas City pressed for a game-tying goal late. KC continues to lack some punch up top which is going to haunt them as this season moves towards the playoffs in the next couple of months.

This was a physical game between these two sides. Houston may have gotten the win but they will be without two key defenders for their next game in Seattle. Both Geoff Cameron and Bobby Boswell will miss the important game with the expansion Sounders due to suspension.

Crew and DC Level

Too bad both sides were missing a chunk of their roster for call-ups and injuries because this one would have been much better for it. Still a quality game with some bad calls from the center ref in it. DC took a late first half lead into the lockerroom to only give it right back up after the break to the Crew. From there on neither side really took hold of this game. DC seemed to control a little more of the pace in this one which lead to a boat load of extra attempts on goal. Big credit to the Columbus defense for stepping up a little more in this one because of that.

DC presented the Crew with a five-man midfield which seemed to slow down Guillermo Barros Schelotto a decent bit. The Crew did find a couple ways around it but never enough to really pressure the Black-and-Red backline.

Both sides are in the thick of things for this eastern crown race. In all honesty right now I think it will between these two sides though we could see the Fire sneak up in there after the way they played in Colorado this week.

Colorado On the Slide

I guess my talk of this side being a dark-horse in the west was possibly a kiss of death to the Rapids. Another loss at home, this time to the Chicago Fire who have looked really good in their last couple of games (SuperLiga mostly). To me Wilman Conde was the player of the game and possibly the player of the week from this game. Colorado had no answer for him when he was around the goal and when he was defending his own goal.

The win was a big one for the Fire as they leap back up the standings into a tie with DC. They really looked like the side we thought we’d see all season long this past weekend. Maybe this is the start of their run going forward here.

As for the Rapids I still have high hopes for them going forward, espeically once they get Conor Casey and company back in the lineup. This club still has some work to do though to make sure they are in contention for the rest of the season to get into the playoffs. I’m slowly writting them off for catching Houston or Chivas here but if they want to stay up there with Seattle for third-best in the west they need to improve their roster right away. Add some depth to the defense and find a playmaker who can set up the scoring in the midfield. Right now they are lacking a bit and it is causing them to drop games that they shouldn’t drop, especially those at home.

Newcomer Nets One For LA

Not a bad start for Alecko Eskandarian. He moved lockerrooms at the HDC over the week and it payed off in a big way. His goal marked a quality win for LA on a night that really saw nothing more than a bunch of fouls. Honestly there may have been more fouls on the field than fireworks in the sky after the game.

The Galaxy really controled this match from start to finish as Steve Nicol’s group is really struggling to find their way again now that the injury bug has knocked out more key members of their roster. Either they are going to have to be creative to find ways to win or just hope they can ride out this strom of injuries again here this summer. Things are not looking good either way in New England right now.

As for LA it was a typical win for them, once they got the goal it was all they needed to play their style of game. Sit back and take pressure while countering when needed. Look LA will make things interesting this season but once this circus called Beckham kicks up again it will be real interesting to see which way this club heads. History should tell us which way that will be though.

Butts-in-Seats

Holiday weekend produced good numbers for the league. All over 10k, even in Dallas. LA and Colorado posted the biggest numbers with 20k and 19k respectively while Columbus and Dallas each got 14k. RSL posted a solid 17k on Friday’s game. And KC scored another sell-out, five in a row at home now. Very positive things there folks.

(Getty Images)" width="340" height="227" />
Its nearly time to call it a day on the Juan Carlos Osorio experiment in the Big Apple. (Getty Images)

A few of you have asked me lately when I was going to write about the good ol’ MLS coaching hot seat again. Last season I updated it pretty regularly during the year since there was plenty of bad coaching to discuss. Thing is I wanted to wait a while this season so we could get a better measure of which coaches were going to be good and which were going to have a seat that was a little warm.

First and foremost I’d like to say that in most situations I am not a fire the coach kind of guy in the middle of the season. I think most of the time you can wait the course and allow the season to do the work for you before you can a guy or not. Thing is soccer just like most sports (and life for that matter) isn’t always the case. Coaches either resign on their own before getting canned or management finally says to hell with them and sends them the pink slip.

So this year I gave most coaches at least 11 or 12 games to let me see if they were good or not for the job. Right now I’d say a few guys are feeling the heat just a bit. Now again before you see your coach and think there is no chance in hell he will get fired, sit back and be reasonable about it. I have no emotional connection to any of these clubs or coaches so it makes this a lot easier to see after watching 12 weeks worth of games. Just be reasonable-objective guy (or gal) here and not super-emotional guy/gal. I know in most situations these guys aren’t gonna get canned anytime soon.

Also, if you think for some reason I missed a coach on this list, please list him below with your reasons.

MLS Coaching Hot Seat: 2009 Edition:

1. Juan Carlos Osorio (New York): Right now according to SportsClubStats.com (great site by the way), the Red Bulls have a 0.5 percent chance of making the playoffs this season. After 14 games there is really little hope that this club will turn it around and a big reason why is not just the coaching from Osorio but the talent HE brought in for this season hasn’t paid off. I think over the last two seasons we have seen exactly how overrated of a coach he really is. While canning him now won’t help the club on the field it will help them out in terms of talent brought in this summer since he wouldn’t be making the moves. The more talent he brings in the less successful this club has been.

2. Frank Yallop (San Jose Earthquakes): Yallop is nearly in the same boat as Osorio as far as the bringing the wrong talent in. However I do believe his butt is cooling off a bit here with recent moves and recent play. You are seeing him unload some talent to make a couple serious moves this summer that could help in the long run. Still nine points in 12 games is not progression for the second-year Quakes. I don’t think Yallop will get canned this season but he does need a good turn around soon if he wants to return next season.

3. Schellas Hyndman (FC Dallas): For the most part it isn’t the poor moves to the roster that has doomed Hyndman in Dallas it is really a lack of quality coaching and tactics on his part that has hurt this side more than anything this season. He is given a very long rope from management to do whatever he wants with the club. This means some moves are slowly paying off but others are still failing to work out in this league. Sadly enough it will take a whole lot for Hyndman to go in Dallas.

4. Jason Kreis (Real Salt Lake): Sometimes high expectations can cause a lot of heat when things aren’t met right away. A lot of people had RSL as their projected Western champs this season. I wasn’t buying into it as much as others. While I like Kreis and believe he is a good fit in Salt Lake I do believe some of the moves he has made haven’t worked out. Throw in the fact that his club has been flat and lacking quality energy for the past month and a half is really dooming their playoff chances for this season. Let’s not forget that this side was an average 10-10-10 side last season. Some moves need to be made quick to save this season and get this club back to where everyone expected them to be at the start of the season. Its still going to take a bit to get him canned but another average season like last year and management may have some serious thinking to do this winter, especially if this bunch fails to reach the post season.

5. Chris Cummings (Toronto FC): Cummings is one of those that will feel heat no matter what I believe. TFC fans are some of the best in the league and deserve a quality side. Thing is I am wondering if Cummings is the right man for it right now. A lot rests on whether or not his club gets a quality striker this summer or not.

6. Curt Onaflo (Kansas City Wizards): Onaflo is one that is kind of luke warm right now for me. His club is currently in playoff contention and should be there in contention for the rest of the season. Thing is his constant switching around his offense is puzzling when you have a true goal scorer like Josh Wolff. I feel his club is good but not getting the right results consistently at home is hurting them. I doubt Onaflo will get fired this season, but I do question whether he is still a good long-term fit for this club.
