Season Recaps: San Jose Earthquakes

It’s hard to decline as a club after being an expansion team in 2008 but the 2009 version of the San Jose Earthquakes did just that. They became the first team to lose more in their second season than in their expansion season. The only difference is this version of the Quakes are actually improving.…[continue reading]

Evening Links and Thoughts: Getting Back

Evening Links and Thoughts: Getting Back

Over the last week and a half I missed out on quite a bit of stuff so I felt tonight would be a good way to recap some things and give you all my opinion on each. We’ve had plenty of new players get signed this past week, including one Designated Player…which in Major League…[continue reading]

Week number 20, hard to believe we are already here and in almost in August for that matter. But indeed the dust has settled on the All-Star break and it is time to get back to work for several MLS clubs this weekend. Some clubs will get games in the middle of a long week…[continue reading]

MLS Weekend Preview: Week 16

I love a good holiday weekend. That’s why these previews are coming today instead of it’s usual Friday timeslot. Even with the holiday comes loads of extras for me to be doing and sitting in front of my laptop isn’t going to be one of them. After a couple weekends of SuperLiga play breaking up…[continue reading]

MLS Weekend Preview: Week 14

This week has already been interesting and we’ve only seen one MLS game. The DC-Seattle game on Wednesday should have been a marquee thing but as we all saw ESPN and the family of networks dropped the ball a bit on getting the MLS game shipped over to another channel to make us MLS folks…[continue reading]

Issues In Quake-Land

While yesterday I was writing about the problems here in Dallas with Schellas Hyndman’s club, out west there is another club that is facing similar issues. The San Jose Earthquakes are off to one of their worst starts in club history (the 1999 club had 6 points through 10 games…this club has five through eight).…[continue reading]

Good, Bad, and Ugly So Far

Typically I do a version of this kind of thing for all MLS clubs but this time around I wanted to do something a little different with the typical Good, Bad, and Ugly column. Instead I will be looking at things in the league as a whole that I have liked, disliked and have absolutely…[continue reading]

Huckerby, Schmid Take Home Awards

No real shockers today in the awards given out. San Jose Earthquakes Darren Huckerby took home the MLS Newcomer of the Year award, beating out FC Dallas midfielder Andre Rocha and Kansas City forward Claudio Lopez. Huckerby was seen as one of the biggest reason to why the Quakes even made it close to the…[continue reading]
