Juan Carlos Osorio’s makeover of his defense continues today with the signing of Spanish World Cup midfielder Albert Celades. The defensive midfielder has seen time with both Real Madrid and Barcelona. Both Brad Lewis and SBI are reporting that the deal has been done between Celades and the Red Bulls.

Celades was in New York to sign his contract on Tuesday and will join the Red Bulls for training on Wednesday.

Most would expect the 33-year-old to start for the Red Bulls this year.

Apparently the club is still working out deals with both Salvadoran left back Alfredo Pacheco and Costa Rican right back Carlos Johnson.

What do you make of these moves by New York? If Celades comes in healthy and ready to go this could be a very, very good move for New York. A veteran defensive midfielder always goes a long way in any league.
