Yes, I know it is extremely early to be doing a list like this but it’s Friday, I have a day off, and I say why not. Just after national signing day I thought it would be a good time to break out the college reports and see who was worth a look at for next year’s MLS SuperDraft.

The 2013 SuperDraft class was good but I already see the 2014 class as one that could be miles better. Of course a lot can and will change that between now and next January. The type of talent will also be a little different than it was in 2013, next year we’ll see more central defenders and attacking midfielders come out.

I will eventually get into some Homegrown players that will make an impact on next year’s draft as well but for now here are 14 players worth keeping an eye on this fall.  Continue Reading →

Re-Grading The 2011 MLS SuperDraft

Yesterday, I started to look back at previous SuperDrafts and the grades that I handed out to the various clubs. Based on my post history, I began grading the clubs in 2010 even though I covered the 2008 and 2009 drafts in other forms on here.

Many of you responded well to the 2010 re-grades from yesterday. So here is the 2011 grades. I do believe that a lot of these players that are still playing are works in progress so I may re-grade them again next year after they finish their third season.

Just as I did yesterday, I’ll stick to the same order in the re-grading as I did in the original post.

Re-Grading The 2010 MLS SuperDraft

10superdraft

I’ve been bad about this in the past and for some reason I didn’t really think to even do this until this year. So here we go, another small project for the preseason to write up.

I’ve decided to go back through the last three SuperDrafts and re-grade each club. Today I am going to start with the 2010 SuperDraft. This was the draft that saw the Philadelphia Union in their first season draft Danny Mwanga first followed by a slew of other players.

I’ll stick to the same order that I graded in the original post. This year I went in ABC order to change things up, a way I’ll probably continue to do it for years to come.  Continue Reading →

2013 MLS SuperDraft: Team Grades

After all the wheeling and dealing, who came away with the best draft? (Getty Images)

After all the wheeling and dealing, who came away with the best draft? (Getty Images)

Well the 2013 MLS SuperDraft has come and passed. Yesterday was a wild day that saw many trades, surprises and some usual steals.

I wanted to kick off today with a look at how each team did in a team-by-team draft grade article. Overall I thought some teams did very well in this draft while others have a few question marks here and there. Obviously it is way early to tell if these clubs really did good or bad in this draft. We don’t know how these players will end up being for each club or if some of them will even make their respective team rosters.

But saying all of that I still like to look at how teams did in each draft and give a reaction to it. Hopefully after the season I will go back and re-evaluate these grades and see if they hold up. Continue Reading →
