Expansion Draft: Protection List (Part 1)

With next Wednesday’s expansion draft coming up fast, I have gone through each club and made a list of 11 players that I think each club will protect from San Jose. Most clubs will protect valuable veteran and young players, which is really a no brainier. This is the eastern conference side of things. I…[continue reading]

Expansion Draft Info

More information came in today about next week’s expansion draft. It will, indeed, take place on Wednesday. Pending final league approval, San Jose will select 11 players total, which means two current teams will not lose anyone. MLS will make public each team’s 11-man protected list on Tuesday. The event will take place around 2…[continue reading]

MLS Expansion: Seattle Is In, Who’s Next?

MLS Expansion: Seattle Is In, Who’s Next?

Next year we all get San Jose back into the MLS and as of today we will have Seattle starting in 2009. Also, we all know the league wants 16 clubs by the 2010 season. More so meaning that I doubt Seattle will be walking into the league alone in the 09 season. Portland, St…[continue reading]

Monday Morning Free Kicks: Dynamo and Revs To Battle Again

Monday Morning Free Kicks: Dynamo and Revs To Battle Again

I can’t say I thought it wouldn’t happen this way. I don’t exactly like repeating myself but again when you are right you are right. I said long ago that this year’s MLS Cup would be a repeat of last year’s MLS Cup. The only change really would be the venue. Neither Houston or New…[continue reading]

Revs Advance, Landycakes to Earthquakes?

Something can be said about defense wins championships. Last night New England’s defense showed why they have some of the top defenders in the league by outting the Chicago Fire in the Eastern Conference Championship. The shots were there for the Fire but none could find the back of the net thanks to the Revs…[continue reading]

Projected SuperDraft Order

I’ve been meaning to update this list for a couple weeks now that the playoffs are quickly coming to a close with the MLS Cup just weeks away. Only four clubs remain in the hunt for the league prize but it is still a good time as ever to update this list. Hat tip to…[continue reading]

Monday Morning Free Kicks: Moving On; Yallop To San Jose

Monday Morning Free Kicks: Moving On; Yallop To San Jose

Round one of the playoffs is in the books. Both conference champions are out, more and more it looks like MLS Cup 2007 could be a repeat of MLS Cup 2006. I don’t brag too much, but doing a blog that people can connect with and read daily and talk about sometimes I feel like…[continue reading]

Earthquakes Calling Santa Clara Home

Earthquakes Calling Santa Clara Home

The San Jose Earthquakes announced today the club has named Santa Clara University’s Buck Shaw Stadium as their temporary venue for the majority of the home games during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, with an option for 2010. Of course their ‘big’ games with the LA Galaxy will still be at Oakland’s McAfee Stadium or…[continue reading]

Earthquakes Unveils New Kits

Earthquakes Unveils New Kits

I have to say I like the new look to the ClashQuakes. Not to mention the new logo: Now let’s seem them get a good team again. In a couple weeks I plan on going into the Quakes options on the expansion draft and who each club should keep safe for that draft.

Monday Morning Free Kicks

Lots to take away from this past weekend in the MLS. Only one team punched their ticket to the post season, in a very nice fashion I must say for Chivas. Other clubs went to draws and bores more than anything else in my mind. And lastly, its sometimes weird being dead on about a…[continue reading]
