Just seeing this headline nearly gave me a headache. Jay Z is rumored to invest $100 million in David Beckham’s Miami MLS team.
So maybe recruiting Jay Z, a hip-hop icon and ex-owner of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets who’s lately dabbled in sports management with Roc Nation Sports, could be an attempt to reboot Miami Beckham United’s bid for professional fútbol in South Florida.
It may be hard to turn down $100 million no matter who you are. Beckham’s group does have some billionaires too, so they aren’t short on cash. But if the rapper can help get a stadium deal done in South Beach, then this thing could work. I also had no idea he was no longer a part-owner of the Nets, but that also shows how much I care about the NBA.
What do you think? Could it work with Jay-Z in Miami? Or would this just be another thing that slows down the stadium search for Beckham and his crew?
