  • 2014 Allocation Order, 2014 MLS Season, Maurice Edu

I meant to update this after the news of Maurice Edu and Philadelphia became official.

Anyways, we have a new team in front of the ‘order’ now, as Seattle moves up thanks to Philly’s move to land Edu on loan. Toronto, Columbus and Dallas follow up now after that. The next player to return to MLS appears to be Marco Pappa. Seattle certainly has interest for him but he does want to return to Chicago, who is now seventh in the order. Hello trade? We’ll certainly see.

Here is the updated 2014 Allocation order (as of January 28):

  1. Seattle Sounders FC (swap with Chivas USA on Dec 11)
  2. Toronto FC
  3. Columbus Crew
  4. FC Dallas
  5. DC United (swap with Philadelphia on Jan 14)
  6. Vancouver Whitecaps
  7. Chicago Fire
  8. Montreal Impact
  9. San Jose Earthquakes
  10. New England Revolution
  11. Colorado Rapids
  12. Chivas USA (swap with Seattle Sounders on Dec 11)
  13. LA Galaxy
  14. New York Red Bulls
  15. Houston Dynamo
  16. Portland Timbers
  17. Real Salt Lake
  18. Sporting KC
  19. Philadelphia Union (Maurice Edu)

Would you be able to explain to me why Dempsey and Bradley were not held to the allocation order but Maurice Edu is?

    • Dempsey and Bradley had a transfer fee where as Edu is on loan. Big difference in terms of money there too.
