  • 2014 Allocation Order, Trades

It was reported earlier in the day by a few on Twitter but now it is official. D.C. United has traded homegrown defender Ethan White and the top spot in the allocation ranking to the Philadelphia Union for defender Jeff Parke and the number six spot in the allocation ranking.

United gets a veteran defender to go with Bobby Boswell and Sean Franklin while the Union make a play to move up the Allocation order for a shot at landing Maurice Edu.

On paper for United, this seems like a wild deal to make. From the looks of it, they aren’t trusting the allocation system to sign someone like Edu this year, so they’re willing to gamble on moving down the order while improving their defense.

The Union make out pretty well in this deal, landing a solid young player in White and the chance to get someone like Edu as well.

The Eastern Conference clubs are making moves left and right here, if anything this has been a fun offseason to watch from the sidelines.
