Can New England hold off Sporting KC tonight? (Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports)

So last week I was a little off, okay, good ways off on nearly all of my 2013 MLS Cup Playoff previews/predictions for the conference semifinals. I still managed to come close on some things though. The conference semifinals turn to the return legs of the round tonight and tomorrow, so it is only fitting to put out another preview/prediction post for it.

Tonight we’ll find out who will be moving on into the Eastern Conference finals.

Note: I’ll have tomorrow’s games previews/predictions up tomorrow.

Houston Dynamo at New York Red Bulls: Houston did themselves a huge favor by coming back from two goals down. But now they must do it on the road, in New York, against a team that they have struggled to beat over the years. The whole no Jamison Olave factor is a big one for New York though. I do see Houston taking it to a much slower New York defense tonight. Something tells me that this series might go into extra time and maybe even penalties to decide it. If that is the case, take the home side.

WVH Prediction: New York 2, Houston 1 (NY advances on aggregate goals)

New England Revolution at Sporting KC: The pressure is certainly going to be on SKC to score one early to tie this series up. New England will be pressured early and often in this one and I think the longer they can hold on, the better their chances will be. But again, like I’ve said before, games like this will come down to experience and SKC has that by the boat load. It will be a close one but I see SKC getting out of this one alive.

WVH Prediction: SKC 2, New England 0 (SKC advances on aggregate goals)
