The Chicago Fire announced today that President of Soccer Operations Javier Leon and Head Coach Frank Klopas have stepped down effective immediately. The Fire have now begun a search for new leadership today.

No timeline has been set on when the Fire would like to hire a new manager but names like Jesse Marsch and Tab Ramos are out there for the club to look at this winter.

Leon and Klopas had been with the Fire since 2008. Klopas began his tenure with the Club as Technical Director in 2008 and assumed the role of Head Coach in 2011.  Under their leadership in 2013, the Fire finished just out of the playoff race with a 14-13-7 record but losing to the Montreal Impact on MLS’ second tiebreaker (goals scored).

The Fire are  the latest club to have a coaching vacancy open up in the last couple weeks. Vancouver parted ways with Martin Rennie yesterday, Schellas Hyndman stepped down as FC Dallas’ manager two weeks ago and Columbus fired Robert Warzycha back at Labor Day.
