The University of Southern California has taken control of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with plans to restore the venue to its former glory. Part of that will allegedly involve tearing down the Sports Arena, which the university also acquired, and replacing it with a 22,000 seat soccer stadium.

According to the ESPN LA report, the soccer stadium could be used to house a Major League Soccer team.

Those curious about where exactly the LA Coliseum is in regards to Carson, California, the current home of LA and Chivas USA, it is about 14 miles up the road and more importantly closer to the downtown LA area.

No word from the Chivas USA camp as to whether or not they are interested in assisting in the potential soccer stadium. If anything this would be a good location for them to move out to and away from the StubHub Center. Or better yet, maybe someone will buy Chivas in the meantime and move them to this potential stadium. That may sound like a win to us all huh?
