- 2013 MLS Playoffs, 2013 MLS Season
It should come to no surprise to anyone that has been watching Major League Soccer in 2013 that the parity has shown through more this year than possibly in any other previous years.
MLS heads into the final two months of the season and that means for most clubs they have seven to eight games to get it right and reach the post season.
Here is how things would look if the playoffs started today:
Wild Card: (4) Philadelphia Union vs. New England Revolution (5)
Semifinals: (2) New York Red Bulls vs. Sporting Kansas City (3), (1) Montreal Impact vs. Philadelphia Union/New England Revolution
Wild Card: (4) Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders (5)
Semifinals: (2) LA Galaxy vs. Colorado Rapids (3), (1) Real Salt Lake vs. Portland Timbers/Seattle Sounders
Interestingly enough, those two wild card matches were games we saw just yesterday on the schedule. Funny how that works out.
This weekend will surely continue to muddle the race a bit more with matches like Real Salt Lake hosting Portland, Philadelphia hosting Montreal, and LA playing rivals San Jose.
This race has proven to be a very fun one and we’re not even close to truly knowing who’ll actually be in the playoffs and in what spot.
