The doors that Clint Dempsey opened may soon send a flood of other American players playing abroad back home.
According to Jermaine Jones — currently contracted to Schalke 04 — could be the next player abroad to come home. And he may come as soon as next year.

That was Jones, as part of a U.S. Soccer Twitter Q&A ahead of Wednesday’s USMNT friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina (2:30 pm ET, ESPN2/UniMas, live chat on MLSsoccer.com).
Jones has a 14-year professional career in the top divisions in Germany and England already under his belt and could make a World Cup squad next summer in Brazil.
The price for Jones? Probably a Designated Player contract.
I’m fairly certain there are a number of teams that would be interested in lining up for Jones’ services for 2014.
