Tuesday has been a busy day in Major League Soccer. On one small spectrum a young player named Richard Sanchez got officially loaned to a lower division. It may not be big news but it is news nevertheless. But really the big story of the day is the fact that the league has added two new Designated Players in one day.
The Chicago Fire are making a playoff push to say the least as they have gone out and added Ecuadorian striker Juan Luis Anangonó from Argentinos Juniors in Argentina’s Primera División. The 24-year old will add a little South American flair to an attack that got a big boost with the midseason addition of Mike Magee.
Anangono isn’t a big name, at least not yet, but is someone that the league should be targeting. A young attacker that has a good enough pedigree to sign a big contract like this.
The Fire weren’t the only ones signing a new star today.
The Montreal Impact are hoping that newly signed Hernan Bernardello will be the answer that will help push them into post season glory this year.
The 27-year old defensive midfielder comes to Montreal with a good amount of experience in La Liga. Bernardello is another fairly young South American player to join the league this season. The Argentine has consistently played in big games over the years for clubs like Newell’s Old Boys (Argentina), UD Almería (Spain), Atlético Colón (Argentina).
