Week 21 in Major League Soccer was a big one once again for some rookies. With Colorado and New England both playing a double dip of games this week, all four of their rookies got big minutes with the two from New England (Andrew Farrell and Scott Caldwell) going the full 90 in both games.

The big story is the blossoming of LA Homegrown striker Gyasi Zardes. His latest goal helped lift the Galaxy over Vancouver 2-1 on Saturday night but it was a goal that will be talked about for weeks to come. It was Zardes’ first from his feet, his other two were from his head.

Zardes is quickly proving his case for Rookie of the Year with each match that he gets. LA manager Bruce Arena has put a lot of trust and faith in his young striker and with three goals already, that is starting to become a nice payout.

Here is how the rest of the rookies did in Week 21.
