So last week there was a little photo-op and training session in Central Florida that got people talking.
Brazilian star Kaka was in Orlando checking out a potential MLS expansion site as he trained with the MLS expansion hopeful.
People got a tad nutty about the whole thing last week as some suggested Kaka would eventually be the club’s first Designated Player in 2015 when the team joins MLS. Obviously that means Orlando City gets their stadium AND gets an expansion bid for that season.
A lot of ifs there.
Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath did a morning interview Wednesday with local television network WFTV 9 anchor Christian Bruey, during which, he said flat out that if MLS is in Orlando in 2015, Kaká will be an Orlando City Lion.
Yeah. So Orlando is adding more gasoline to the fire here on this bit. That would be a monster get for an expansion team and a big way to introduce yourself to the league as a new club. Some could argue that Kaka would be the biggest DP since Thierry Henry or even David Beckham, even at 33-years old, which is how old he’ll be in 2015.
