Will LA continue to roll over teams when they host Houston this weekend? (Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports)

Well, I failed to get to this yesterday. With a Thursday night game, I probably should have done the weekend predictions yesterday afternoon or had at least written up a prediction for last night’s game between New England and Portland.

Oh well. Portland and New England ended on a 0-0 draw, something you could have probably predicted. The Revs defense looked as good as we’ve seen really in last night’s game. Now about their offense, that is another subject that still needs some work. Portland was still feeling the effects of losing to the Green Machine though the day before, so I’ll cut them some slack.

Time to focus on the weekend matches for Week 10. We have seven games this weekend on two days with some good match-ups to discuss including a MLS Cup rematch in LA.

Here are my predictions for this weekend’s matches, plenty of chances to make some wrong guesses here.

New York Red Bulls at Columbus Crew: Probably the league’s top game outside of LA this weekend. The Crew do a good job at disrupting the rhythm of its opposition. New York will once again be without Dax McCarty and I see that being a big problem in Ohio.

WVH Prediction: Columbus 2, New York 1

Montreal Impact at San Jose Earthquakes: Does Montreal have anything left in the tank after Wednesday’s thrashing of Toronto? I think they’ll be fine for the most part given how they play defense and pack things in on their side of the field. Not to mention San Jose’s suspensions to their attackers (Steven Lenhart and Alan Gordon) hurt their chances in this one. Draw seems inevitable.

WVH Prediction: San Jose 1, Montreal 1

Seattle Sounders at Philadelphia Union: Could be a tricky game for the Sounders on the road. Philly is looking to bounce back from an ugly performance in New England last week while the Sounders are well rested. Calling it a draw for now, I just need to see more out of the Sounders here before I start picking them each week.

WVH Prediction: Philadelphia 1, Seattle 1

Toronto FC at Colorado Rapids: Depth will be an issue for both teams but the travel and getting smacked around on Wednesday will be an item that won’t help Toronto out. I’m taking the Rapids, sounds like a simple enough bet.

WVH Prediction: Colorado 2, Toronto 0

Vancouver Whitecaps at Real Salt Lake: Both teams need to find their scoring touch in the final third. Vancouver did bounce back against FC Dallas last week but I don’t see them making it two-for-two here being on the road at RSL. Something tells me this one will be as bland as their last meeting.

WVH Prediction: RSL 1, Vancouver 1

Chivas USA at Sporting KC: Pretty sure we won’t see SKC lose at home two weeks in a row. While Chivas will cause them fits, Sporting has the better talent on both ends to get three points here.

WVH Prediction: Sporting KC 2, Chivas 1

Houston Dynamo at LA Galaxy:  A little rematch of the last two MLS Cups. I feel like this one is already written in stone given how LA is playing and seeing how Brad Davis is suspended.

WVH Prediction: LA 2, Houston 1
