Well this was a little nugget of information to drop on us all last night.
Speaking to reporters in Toronto, MLS Commissioner Don Garber first said the league hoped to have an announcement in 4-6 weeks.
Garber tells Toronto media he’s hopeful to announce MLS expansion side in 4-6 weeks. Did say progress in New York, but wasn’t specific.

Garber didn’t say New York specifically or any city for that matter but let’s be honest, it is New York.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in remarks at a MLB All-Star Game press conference on Wednesday, “Hopefully, we’re getting close to announcing a new soccer stadium here in Flushing Meadow Park.”
And if you have any doubts on New York, MLS executive vice president of communications Dan Courtemanche later tweeted this as well. This was in response to some asking if it were the New York Cosmos.

But the real meat of it all may be this tweet by Jonathan Tannenwald on who the owners may be in New York.
I’m told that Manchester City is once again in the lead to take hold of MLS’ 20th franchise and bring it to Queens: is.gd/5DpIKD

So a quick recap:
– It’s New York.
– Man City appears to be the owners.
– It’s not the New York Cosmos
– For now, it’s not Orlando or any other city in the US.
