It is Rivalry Week! Plenty of good talking points all around, as well as plenty of shots fired by the various clubs this week.

I’ll get the TV schedule and all the crazy madness that NBC has planed for us all tomorrow up later today. If you haven’t heard by now, NBC is planning on doing a RedZone type day for all soccer fans with three games broadcasted live with a studio show in between. Total running time for the day, 10 hours. Not bad at all folks.

Alright, time to get down to some predictions that are sure to be very wrong come Sunday evening.

Saturday

D.C. United at New York Red Bulls - The old Atlantic Cup. I love this rivalry. It is as old as the league is and could possibly be one of the best rivalries in MLS too. Both clubs have stumbled a little bit out of the gates here. You have to think that the Red Bulls will wake up just a little bit for this one. Two games in and they’ve already given up five goals, three of which were very late in the game. It will be a fun one nonetheless.

WVH Prediction: New York 2, D.C. 2

Chicago Fire at Sporting KC - Two more clubs that have struggled early on here, though KC does have one win under their belts. The Fire, eek, what can you say about them so far that isn’t bad? They are limping into this one while SKC should come out with more energy and determination in the final third. SKC has too much speed for the outside backs of the Fire to handle too.

WVH Prediction: Sporting KC 2, Chicago 0

Toronto FC at Montreal Impact - I have to admit, this is the game I am looking forward to the most this weekend. Both teams are up and comers to this season and each want to continue on with their early momentum. This could be a game that is handled mostly in the middle of the park as neither team commit too many numbers forward. A counter attack goal will win this, so that favors Montreal.

WVH Prediction: Montreal 1, Toronto 0

New England Revolution at Philadelphia Union - One of the unnamed rivalries on the weekend. If this is going to be a rivalry in MLS it needs a name. Just sayin’. Anyways, I do like where both teams are headed though there are still some iffy questions about each side that I need to see answered. This one feels like a draw to me.

WVH Prediction: Philadelphia 1, New England 1

San Jose Earthquakes at Columbus Crew - The lone non-rivalry game on the weekend. As good as San Jose appeared in their last game (mainly in the late stages), this one seems to be a trap to me. Columbus is a dangerous team on offense and if they get going early, it could be a long trip home for the Quakes.

WVH Prediction: Columbus 2, San Jose 1

Colorado Rapids at Real Salt Lake - The Rocky Mountain Cup is always a good one but I don’t buy into the fact that the Rapids will bring anything to this one. Two games in and they look like they will compete for 60 minutes but that is about it. RSL has too much talent all across the board and enough defensive skills to keep this one in their favor at home.

WVH Prediction: RSL 2, Colorado 0

Portland Timbers at Seattle Sounders FC - We got to see some good signs of life out of the Sounders against Tigres in the midweek. You have to believe that more is to come in that regards this weekend against Portland. The Timbers still have a load of defensive issues to deal with and I see Seattle taking it to them in the same manner that Montreal did a week ago.

WVH Prediction: Seattle 2, Portland 1

Sunday

Houston Dynamo at FC Dallas - It is a shame this is the only game between these two sides this season. Utter shame. Given the early struggles of Dallas and the hangover from the loss in the CCL for Houston, this one screams draw to me.

WVH Prediction: Dallas 1, Houston 1

Chivas USA at LA Galaxy - The first SuperClasico for Chelis. Even after the Goats 3-1 win last week over Dallas, no one is giving them any respect in this game. Nor should they. LA has looked good, I mean really good so far this season. Too much quality for Chivas to overcome.

WVH Prediction: LA 3, Chivas 1
