Trade season is back on. Sporting Kansas City acquired midfielder Benny Feilhaber from the New England Revolution on Tuesday in exchange for allocation money, Sporting KC’s natural first round pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, and natural second round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.

That my friends is a big time “get” for Sporting KC.

The former US Men’s National team player appeared in 52 games with the Revolution. He added in five goals and tallied nine assists.

Kansas City head coach Peter Vermes now has the fun task of getting Feilhaber more involved with his offense – something he wasn’t totally able to get out of Bobby Convey.

The deal for New England works out nicely. A huge cap hit, Feilhaber goes to a conference foe but if they play their cards right, they’ll come away with a couple of nice draft picks and a good chunk of allocation. That allocation money will certainly be used towards the constant rebuilding of the Revs’ roster.
