The Colorado Rapids had mentioned shortly after Friday’s Re-Entry Draft that they weren’t done making deals. Turns out they weren’t kidding around.

The Colorado Rapids have acquired forward Edson Buddle in a trade with the LA Galaxy. The Galaxy will get in return some allocation money and a  first round 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft pick.

Wow.

Buddle didn’t catch on as well as some would have thought in 2012 when he returned to the Galaxy from playing overseas. Moving a little East will be a nice change in scenery for Buddle. The 31-year old will join forces up front with Omar Cummings. That should be a good partnership as long as both stay healthy.

Colorado didn’t appear to have to part ways with much to get Buddle, which makes this move pretty a good one. Buddle made less than Conor Casey did in 2012 in terms of money against the salary cap, so this is a win-win kind of move for the Rapids.

This will be Buddle’s fifth team in MLS, as he made previous stops in Columbus, Toronto and New York.
