U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has called 20 players into training camp to prepare for the final match of 2012, a friendly against Russia in Krasnodar.
US Roster by positions:
GOALKEEPERS (3): Tim Howard (Everton), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
DEFENDERS (6): Carlos Bocanegra (Racing Santander), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Timmy Chandler (Nuremberg), Maurice Edu (Stoke City), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim)
MIDFIELDERS (7): Michael Bradley (Roma), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Joshua Gatt (Molde), Joe Gyau (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim)
FORWARDS (4): Juan Agudelo (Chivas USA), Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna), Herculez Gomez (Santos Laguna)
The big talk will be about Timmy Chandler being back in the US camp. Word around the blogs and Twitter this morning are that he is saying he is fully committed to being apart of the US team. It is good to see him state that case, hopefully in February the US can cap-tie him to the team for good.
Another interesting note is the fact that there are only three MLS players called up, two of which are keepers. No Graham Zusi in this roster, which may be the biggest shock to me. I would have thought with Sporting KC being out of the playoffs that Zusi would have gotten the nod for this game. Same can almost be said about Kyle Beckerman, who has been a constant fixture in Klinsmann’s rosters so far.
People will love seeing names like Joe Gyau, Mix Diskerud and Joshua Gatt called up as well.
