One of the most talked about things surrounding the Seattle Sounders as an expansion team was the notion that every few years their fans would be able to vote on their General Manager’s position.
It turns out that time has come.
Sounders fans will have the chance to vote if current GM Adrian Hanauer is worth keeping on board for another term or if it is time for him to move on.
The online vote will begin on Oct. 7 at noon (PT) and conclude until Dec. 7 at 11:59 p.m. (PT). More details on the voting process will be announced next week.
Patterned after the FC Barcelona model, which boasts more than 160,000 members worldwide, Sounders FC season-ticket members will have a voice by participating in the general manager elections every four years.
The chairman of the Alliance is actor/comedian Drew Carey.
He is part of the investor group led by Hollywood executive Joe Roth that launched the MLS Sounders in 2009. His roots with the Sounders date back to their NASL days when he was a fan as a little kid. For lack of better terms, Hanauer bleeds Rave Green.
What do you think Sounders’ fans? Should Hanauer keep his job?
