It has been a long time coming for FC Dallas fans. Today the club announced their first ever jersey sponsor with Texas-based health and wellness company AdvoCare.
Dallas will debut the new jersey on July 28 against LA.
The partnership puts AdvoCare on the front of every FC Dallas jersey and all team gear. AdvoCare will have a major presence throughout FC Dallas Stadium and Complex, as well as in team media and promotional initiatives. The sponsorship also places AdvoCare on FC Dallas Academy and Youth jerseys.
The terms and dollar figures of the multi-year deal were not announced but given how the league requires a certain level of money for a club to sign a sponsor, you have to imagine this one has to be in the $1-2 million range (similar deals like Xango with Real Salt Lake were for $1 million, on the high side with Herbalife and LA was around $4 million).
Some won’t like this deal for Dallas or the league due to the nature of business that AdvoCare is in. But if you are a Dallas fan this only helps the bottom line as more than likely this jersey sponsor deal will help pay for a lot of things to come. Typically these deals help teams pay for most, if not all of their team’s roster for a season. I’d imagine this will do that in Dallas.
Now the league has three clubs without jersey sponsors: Sporting Kansas City, the Colorado Rapids and the San Jose Earthquakes. If I had to put money on it, SKC would get the next deal followed by San Jose. You have to think that with a new stadium on the horizon for San Jose – plus the success they are having this season – will ultimately land them something sooner rather than later.
