Yay, another day, another MLS draft. Today should be the last one for a while (that is unless there is a lottery taking place which could very well happen here soon too). The MLS SuperDraft was cut a round for the second straight season and because of that the Supplemental Draft’s first round will still feel like the SuperDraft’s third round to some.

There are plenty of decent players left to be taken. For those who believe nothing will come of the Supplemental Draft consider players worth taking a risk on that could prove to be big time contributors in MLS.¬†Last year’s third round of the SuperDraft gave Toronto Joao Plata, who contributed meaningful first-team minutes in his rookie season. Before that we’ve seen players like Real Salt Lake centerback Chris Schuler and Portland Timbers midfielder Eric Alexander taken in the third round, while Houston Dynamo’s Geoff Cameron and current U.S. Under-23 ¬†goalkeepers Sean Johnson and Brian Perk fell to the fourth round.

There is no big PR hype for today’s draft. Just a phone call between the clubs to pick the players. Once they are announced I may post them on here. Until then here are a few players that are still up for grabs:

  1. Andy Rose, UCLA
  2. Evan James, Charlotte
  3. Kirk Urso, UNC
  4. Arthur Ivo, SMU
  5. Brian Ownby, Virginia

Time will tell what this draft brings us. Here is the draft order for today’s rounds.
