- Features, Lee Nguyen, Weight Lottery
The Vancouver Whitecaps have won the lottery to acquire winger/forward Lee Nguyen, who most recently played professional football in Vietnam.
The Whitecaps beat out FC Dallas, Toronto FC, LA Galaxy, the Houston Dynamo, and Real Salt Lake to Nguyen’s services.
Vancouver had a 47.6 percent chance of landing Nguyen in the lottery, the best odds of all of the teams who participated.
Nguyen scored almost once every other game while playing in the V-League. Though take that with a grain of salt as the top flight league in Vietnam doesn’t even produce a team in the AFC’s Champions League.
The Whitecaps land a cheap (he’s apparently going to make close to $60k according to sources with SB Nation) and decent winger. In a way you could say they swapped Shea Salines for Nguyen this winter.
