Hard to believe it but New York will not make a change next year – even if they fail to reach the post season this year.

This tweet came earlier in the day and sparked a decent debate between folks on Twitter. Mostly New York fans were upset by the news – can you really blame them? Hearing that Hans Backe and Eric Solar would be back for next year shows that the Red Bull brass across the pond really have no clue as to what they are doing with this MLS club here.

I will say this though, I have thought for a while that the Red Bulls needed stability with their coaching situation. Good or bad, they needed someone to stay in the head coaching spot for at least two seasons. Their history is littered with coaching changes and it could be wise to try one more year with this current bunch. But at the same time we are seeing that Backe doesn’t quite understand how things work in MLS to keep his club, which is a talented one, on the top of the table.

What do you think? Are you surprised that Backe will be brought back for another season?
