MLS To Break For Three WCQ Games In 2012

Saw this report over on SBNation.com. Major League Soccer could open it’s 2012 season even earlier than before to make room for three FIFA World Cup Qualifier dates. Its possible the league could open on March 10, the earliest start ever. It also means that the First Kick wouldn’t involve the Seattle Sounders who will…[continue reading]

"Everyone has to make their own decisions as they relate to those things. For me, if my team's in a competition I'm going to go to the game with them, no matter what the team is that I send down. ... For me, not traveling with the team I think would be disrespectful to the competition that you're competing in and to the opponent that you're playing."
~ Sigi Schmid, Seattle Sounders FC head coach

Saw this quote from Sigi Schmid in regards to Colorado Rapids manager Gary Smith staying at home this past week for the Rapids CCL trip to Honduras. Can’t say I disagree with this either. Even though the Rapids won their game, the head coach should have made the trip. It will be interesting to see…[continue reading]

"We didn’t invest to come in and control the club. I thought that we needed a strategic alliance with one of the big clubs. We did have lots of different opportunities presented to us to invest in European football. I didn’t have the motivation to do it until Arsenal."
~ Stan Kroenke, Colorado Rapids owner

Saw this quote earlier in an interview with Colorado Rapids and Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke. He said he invested in Arsenal to “help” the Rapids. Aside from seeing his club win the MLS Cup last year, I’m still wondering how Arsenal has helped the Rapids.

Kyle Beckerman Faces Long Suspension

Get Microsoft Silverlight

We’ve seen this before, at least somewhere. A player goes a little bat-sh*t crazy on someone. It happened again last night with Real Salt Lake’s Kyle Beckerman on Chicago Fire midfielder Daniel Paladini. Beckerman, who was enjoying a very strong MVP-like season until his head butt on Paladini last night. The foul itself was clearly…[continue reading]

Relief On The Way For Dallas In October?

Here is a little article I just wrote over at BigDSoccer.com. Will October be a month that give FC Dallas some relief? We will certainly find out but I do find that schedule to be very favorable if Dallas only finds a way to show up once again.

MLS Week 29: What To Watch For

Week 29 in Major League Soccer has already gotten off to a bang with last night’s games. Out of nowhere the Chicago Fire go to Salt Lake and beat up on RSL in a 3-0 win. No one saw that coming and sure the officiating was questionable to some, you have to give Frank Klopas…[continue reading]
