- 2011 Allocation Order, Eddie Johnson
There isn’t a whole lot to report here yet. Eddie Johnson is back in Major League Soccer, the league announced the signing today during a press conference to talk about the new amendment to the Designated Player rule.
Johnson will be allocated to a team on Thursday.
For those wondering who has the first crack at Johnson, check out the most recent allocation order that I posted last week. Chivas USA has the first crack at him but the way things have gone this season, they will likely pass on Johnson.
My best guess is either Chicago or Seattle ending up with him. The Dynamo recently signed Carlo Costly so them taking a striker makes little sense today.Toronto is loaded now up top and Sporting KC is as well. That leaves Seattle and Chicago (and Columbus as a distant third choice).
If Chivas is smart they take Johnson and trade him away to a club that could use him. They need the extra allocation anyways to sign Juan Pablo Angel (a deal that should be announced today or sometime this week).
I’ll have more on this later this week when Johnson is allocated to a club.
