- Jordan Harvey, Trades
This could very well be one of the oddest trades I’ve seen. The Philadelphia Union have traded defender Jordan Harvey to the Vancouver Whitecaps for allocation money.
Harvey had been a key player for the Union, making 16 starts for a defense that had yielded the second fewest goals in the league.
What makes this move strange to me is the fact that Philadelphia has no real backup to replace Harvey in the lineup. I’m sure they’ll shift a couple guys around like one of the Farfan brothers; or even move a midfielder back into the defense; or possibly change the lineup all together.
My guess is the Union have someone lined up to sign next week with the transfer window opening up and needed the extra allocation space to do so. Could it be that the Union are the one club that could land the first African DP?
On the flip side I do like this move for the Whitecaps as it brings in an experienced defender to help out. The Caps need defensive help at this stage and Harvey will surely be a solid addition to their roster.
