Don’t feel bad when you look at the MLS slate for this evening, it looks very much like a weekend’s worth of matches when you add the USOC match, a friendly in Portland and the final leg of the Canadian Cup. Loads of games all over the place, as 11 of the 18 clubs will be in action tonight.

I’ll only focus on the three league games though for my predictions.

Colorado Rapids at New York Red Bulls: Both clubs are close to getting their rosters raided a bit for the upcoming Gold Cup. Right now neither team are looking their absolute best though. With a game on short rest I’d expect some sluggish play from both sides. Colorado played on Sunday to a listless draw against Toronto FC while the Red Bulls got a hard fought draw in Houston. This is one of those bend or break games. I’d expect New York to get three points in this one but their recent play doesn’t suggest that fact based on how their defense has been as of late. A draw seems more likely.

WVH Prediction: New York 1, Colorado 1

FC Dallas at Seattle Sounders FC: Another one of those matches that should be great but probably will get lost in the midfield a bit since both teams are missing a big attacking element to their game. I don’t expect a lot of goals in this one as both teams end on level terms as they save a little bit of gas in their tanks for Saturday’s matches.

WVH Prediction: Seattle 1, Dallas 1

Houston Dynamo at LA Galaxy: The Galaxy have been on a nice pace as of late, of course playing lots of home games will do that for you. They get another one here against a club that rarely does well at the HDC. The Dynamo have some defensive issues in the midfield and in the back that are causing some problems right now and I’m sure the Galaxy, and Landon Donovan¬†in-particular¬†will have something to say about that.

WVH Prediction: LA 2, Houston 0
