It is nearly a full slate of games this weekend in Major League Soccer. There are a couple big matches this weekend as we get the SuperClasico out in Los Angeles and on Sunday we get a big Western Conference battle between Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas. Let’s just say this will be a big weekend.

Chicago Fire at Philadelphia Union: The Fire haven’t been that great on the road this season while the Union are still hoping to get their offense going here. The Philly defense still doesn’t look that awful considering the fact that they haven’t won a game since mid-April. Peter Nowak desperately needs some help from Danny Mwanga and Sebastien Le Toux. Getting one or both of those guys going here has to happen sooner or later. Chicago could be a good team for that to take place against as the Fire lack the ability to put a full effort together for 90 minutes. It will still be a close one though.

WVH Prediction: Philadelphia 1, Chicago 0

New York Red Bulls at Houston Dynamo: Could be one of the more underrated games of the weekend. The Red Bulls looked so good for a few weeks in a row then only to revert back to their old habits last week against Chivas. I know there has been some smack talking going around about this game and the Dynamo cannot get caught up in it considering they have a big Texas showdown next week against FC Dallas. Houston has to find some consistency in their play here as New York will be all over them if they aren’t careful. Getting Will Bruin on the board early has to be key but I think in the end this one ends level.

WVH Prediction: Houston 1, New York 1

LA Galaxy at Chivas USA: The ol’ SuperClasico. I’ll admit that I am interested in this match but at the same time I’m also annoyed at the hype this game gets. I’m sure some of you will agree with that. As far as the game goes it should be a good one. Chivas has been playing very well as of late as they knocked off the Red Bulls last week in New York. LA was also impressive last week against KC and even though this is a road game for them on the books, you know they’ll be good to go at home once again for this one. Rivalry games always bring out the best/worst in clubs. This one will definitely be physical and I’d imagine a few cards will be shown. The Galaxy seem to be the better team so I’m going with them by a slim margin.

WVH Prediction: LA 1, Chivas 0

Sporting Kansas City at Seattle Sounders FC: The road trip continues on for Sporting as they travel to Seattle. KC has all sort of problems on defense but they still are a club that Seattle can not take for granted here. Sigi Schmid knows this game means three points if they get their offense going in the right track here. With the way Alvaro Fernandez and Fredy Montero have been in recent weeks I believe the Sounders will be fine in this one.

WVH Prediction: Seattle 2, KC 0

New England Revolution at San Jose Earthquakes: Are the Quakes back on track after their dominating performance against Columbus last week? It’s possible but they’ll need more out of Chris Wondolowski again this week to prove it. The Revs haven’t looked great away from home this season and a trip to the other coast usually doesn’t mean three points for them either. I like the Quakes to continue their upward trend here.

WVH Prediction: San Jose 2, New England 1

Columbus Crew at Portland Timbers: Back at JELD-WEN Field for another Timbers game. The Crew looked awful last week in San Jose and now they have to face one of the toughest home teams in all of MLS? Yikes. I still believe the Crew’s defense is better than what we saw last week but their offense cannot hang with the likes of the Timbers here. Just won’t happen. At least not this week.

WVH Prediction: Portland 3, Columbus 1

Real Salt Lake at FC Dallas: Probably the game of the week for me, I’m definitely looking forward to this one. RSL has some revenge to play with as motivation in this one as FC Dallas knocked them out of the playoffs a year ago. Dallas has played well in recent weeks and are clearly the hottest thing going right now. Keeping it up against a strong team like RSL won’t be easy. Thing is RSL has never won in Dallas, will that trend continue? I think so but I see this one ending on level terms.

WVH Prediction: Dallas 1, RSL 1

Toronto FC at Colorado Rapids: I don’t like this matchup at all for Toronto. They’ve already played on game this week on the road in Vancouver and now they have to go to the Mile High City. That does not sound good for them. Even though the Rapids are still missing a bulk of their attack, getting Conor Casey back will be a nice boost if they can find ways to involve him. Either way, I like the Rapids to come away with the three points in this one.

WVH Prediction: Colorado 3, Toronto 0
