Today is roster deadline day so some deals could be in the works like this one. Sporting Kansas City has traded long-time midfielder Jack Jewsbury to the Portland Timbers for allocation money today.
The eight-year KC veteran was thought to be a sure bet of a pick in the Expansion Draft back in the fall but was protected back then. I like this move for Portland though as it gives the Timbers a gritty veteran in the midfield that they needed. It shows that John Spencer is doing a lot of good things with the Timbers so far.
I can’t imagine this was an easy move to make for KC though. Jewsbury was a fan favorite and a guy most people around the league like. But it sounds like KC has a couple moves waiting to happen and needed some extra allocation to do them.
