- David Bingham, Generation adidas, Weighted Lottery
There had been talks for a couple weeks that California goalkeeper David Bingham could become a member of the 2011 Generation adidas class. Before the SuperDraft the league decided they didn’t want two keepers as GAs but according to Soccer By Ives, they’ve changed their minds.
Bingham has signed a GA deal with the league and will be placed in a special lottery draft, similar to Luis Gil’s deal last year after the draft that saw Kansas City get him (only to then deal him to Real Salt Lake).
No details yet on when the draft will be but I would imagine D.C., Chivas USA, Philadelphia and New England will all have the best chances of landing Bingham who could easily be just as good if not better than the top keeper taken in the SuperDraft Zac MacMath.
So one more draft, only this time it is lottery style. In a season of drafts one more can’t hurt right?
Update: The lottery for Bingham will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3pm ET. A final list of teams participating will be revealed later today. Once those details are out I’ll post them.
