- Darlington Nagbe, Will Bruin
The 2010 Hermann Trophy finalists were announced on Friday. Two of the three are playing in this weekend’s College Cup final four.
Akron junior Darlington Nagbe, Louisville junior Colin Rolfe, and Indiana junior striker Will Bruin. Nagbe and Rolfe’s teams are still in the running for the College Cup this season.
The award, given each year to the best player in college soccer, will be presented on Jan. 7th in St. Louis.
Nagbe was a major player in the Akron lineup this year as he contributed seven goals and assisted on 13 others. Bruin finished as Big Ten Player of the Year, scoring 18 goals and five assists. Rolfe has been a large player in Louisville’s undefeated season, scoring nine goals and adding seven assists.
All three are looked as future MLS players as well. Bruin and Nagbe are targeted for a Generation adidas contract this winter for next month’s SuperDraft while Rolfe could also join them if he were to come out instead of going back to school for his senior season.
It will be interesting to see if Nagbe can make it back-to-back winners for the Zips. Sporting Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury took home the award last season.
