Dynamo To Show Off New Kit Today

You may have seen this image floating around the inter-webs these last couple weeks. I’ve seen a couple mock ups of it myself and I have to say this is one snazzy looking jersey for the Houston Dynamo. Today the club is set to unveil the new jersey and new sponsor. The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the club and Greenstar Recycling have reached a five-year, $12.7 million jersey sponsorship deal.
The deal will officially be announced at a joint press conference Tuesday afternoon at Discovery Green. Brian Ching and Brad Davis will be on hand to model the new kits.
Greenstar will become the second jersey sponsor in the Dynamo franchise’s five-year history and the first founding partner for the new stadium the Dynamo are expected to break ground on next month and open in early 2012.
I must say the new look is sort of retro too. The club had said their new jerseys would look like some Dutch jerseys of yesterday and I think they achieved that with this new kit. I do like the lack of baby blue that used to be in their home orange kits. This solid orange with the retro-style pattern on it looks good really. I really believe this is an upgrade on their home kits. It will be interesting to see what their new road kits look like, there had been some speculation that they could end up being blue. We’ll see today.
