  • 2010 Power Rankings, 2010 Week 28, MLS Power Rankings

I’ll keep my intro short this week as I have some things to get to today. We have one more playoff spot left to get in MLS and its down to Colorado and Kansas City for that spot. Same thing goes with my rankings this week as Colorado is sitting in the eighth spot with KC chasing after them. Other than that there wasn’t a whole lot of change (just like normal for this time of year).

Team Rank Record (W-L-T) Comments
(1) 14-4-10 52 pts. I think the draw to New York may be one that RSL would like to have back. It looks like they may be traveling for the Western Conference final if they reach it this year.
(2) 12-2-14 50 pts. The 14 draws are keeping them from getting home field advantage in the first round. The only way they can get it now is if they beat both RSL and LA on the road. Not an easy task, even for this team. We may see their streak fall this weekend at RSL.
(4) 17-6-5 56 pts. The Supporter’s Shield is very close to being their’s now, they just need to get a point this weekend and hope RSL doesn’t beat Dallas.
(3) 14-8-6 48 pts. With all the talk about the three DPs, I think its safe to say the real winner of this team this season is Dane Richards. He went from after thought to star all in a couple months.
(5) 13-9-6 45 pts. An Open Cup title win and a playoff clinching win all in one week. Not bad folks, not bad.
(7) 12-8-7 43 pts. So has Chris Wondolowski got himself into the MVP discussions yet? His brace against D.C. got the Quakes in the playoffs for the first time since re-joining the league.
(6) 13-8-7 46 pts. The Crew are running out of gas but I have a feeling we’ll see them turn things around come playoff time.
(8) 11-8-9 42 pts. Only team left to clinch a spot is the Rapids, just a point is needed to do so in two games against LA and RSL. We’ve seen teams collapse before here late in the year, will the Rapids find a way to do that?
(9) 9-12-6 33 pts. So they just need the full nine points in their final three games to reach the post season. For a team that has a three-game losing streak I wouldn’t count on them reaching that goal.
(10) 7-14-7 28 pts. For an expansion team I think they’ve put themselves in a good position to make plenty of noise in 2011. I really believe they are two good players away from being a contender in the east.
(11) 8-11-8 32 pts. I think we’ll see plenty of changes yet again in the Windy City in the coming weeks, first with Carlos de los Cobos.
(13) 8-15-4 28 pts. I’d say the Goats have something to build on for next year, plenty of young talent they just need some playmakers.
(12) 8-13-7 31 pts. With nothing to play for here do you start giving the young guys more chances? I think so.
(14) 8-15-5 29 pts. Nice win over Houston, the game felt like an intense playoff match between those two again. Too bad it meant nearly nothing as Steve Nicol is already planning his roster for next year.
(15) 7-15-6 27 pts. I think this bunch just needs some time off to regroup and get healthy, lucky for them its only a couple weeks away now.
(16) 6-19-3 21 pts. Another bad record for D.C. this year, their shutout against San Jose was the 16th time they’ve failed to score a goal this year. A new league record.
