Today has been a busy day of meetings and what not for me at the office so posting here has taken a back seat yet again. I did want to pump out a quick thought or two on tonight’s MLS game between the Chicago Fire and the New England Revolution.
For the Fire it will be the first time in a few days that we’ve even seen the club. Probably a blessing for the team to get last weekend off so they could come together a little more. Nery Castillo and Freddie Ljungberg will want to make their marks on their new club and I think we’ll see a Chicago side that is full of energy in this one.
New England is slowly showing signs of life thanks to their SuperLiga rebirth and some new signings of their own. They have to test the backline of Chicago early and often in this one to see if the Fire defense has improved or if its still shaky as its been all season. Shalrie Joseph will have to see a lot of the ball and hope that Gonzalo Segares hasn’t had enough time to get reacquainted with his team.
I like the Fire at home in a tightly played contest. Look for plenty of fouls on Ljungberg and I think Castillo finally makes his mark on this one.
WVH Prediction: Chicago 2, New England 1
