MLS Week 17 Notes and Thoughts

Just as I mentioned in the highlights post earlier this morning this past week was really all about the friendlies and other games going on and not the regular season slate in Major League Soccer. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, I really don’t want to get in to why I don’t like how SuperLiga…[continue reading]

MLS Week 17 Highlights

It was another short week in Major League Soccer. Loads of friendlies and Superliga were once again the main attraction for several clubs across the league but we did have a couple big games in league play. In case you missed it here are some highlights of those games. (Note: the Seattle-Colorado game highlights will…[continue reading]

MLS Weekend Preview: Week 17

Forgive me for being brief here but my schedule today has been a bit off and the weekend previews for week 17 will be cut short because of that. All I can do for now is give predictions and that’s that. Next week we’ll be back on track and on the regular program. Thankfully we…[continue reading]

WVH Mid-Season Awards

WVH Mid-Season Awards

The Major League Soccer All-Star game is next week which means its a good time to dish out some mid-season awards. Nearly all the clubs have played 15 games, so we have a pretty good indication of who’s done the most and who hasn’t here. I’d be shocked if a good portion of this list…[continue reading]

MLS Thursday Preview: California Clasico

For the first time in a few years, the league’s first big rivalry between the San Jose Earthquakes and the LA Galaxy actually has a little meaning to it. The last couple years its been all LA as the Quakes haven’t quite been the same since coming back into the league as an expansion club.…[continue reading]

Soccer at Fenway, Fun Time To Me

Soccer at Fenway, Fun Time To Me

Soccer at Fenway Park…definitely a good time if you ask me. They even did Sweet Caroline at halftime. So is this going to be a new thing? Summer friendlies at baseball stadiums? Well, we’ll see if that trend continues but I got to admit this was a pretty neat thing last night as Celtic and…[continue reading]

MLS Hot and Not: Midway Point

The Major League Soccer All-Star break is next week and so the midway point of the season is more or less finally here. Only a couple teams have yet to play half of their season slate while the rest of the league is already in the second half of their season. I felt it was…[continue reading]

Fernandez Possibly Joining Seattle?

Boy this would be a big coup for Major League Soccer and for the Seattle Sounders FC. World Soccer Reader (great site BTW) is reporting that Uruguay international Alvaro Fernandez is headed to Seattle. He’s only 24-years old and he saw some playing time in the World Cup as Uruguay placed 4th in the tournament. Fernandez most…[continue reading]

Rio Tinto Hosting Concerts

I gotta say, the folks who designed Rio Tinto Stadium got it right. Nailed it in fact. The way they do concerts there is genius for MLS-sized stadiums. Why? There isn’t a permanent stage taking up room like at Crew Stadium, Pizza Hut Park and other stadiums around the league. It may be more work to do…[continue reading]
