- Lottery, Sal Zizzo
Per Jeff Carlisle at ESPN, U.S. international midfielder Sal Zizzo is coming home, to Major League Soccer. The former U20 and U23 international recently saw his contract with German side Hannover 96 end which made way for this move back to this side of the pond with MLS.
According to Carlisle and his sources, Zizzo will be placed in a weighted lottery on Wednesday with Kansas City and D.C. being the most likely destinations as they will have the best shot at signing the midfielder.
Zizzo may be a long-term project of some sorts due to the fact that he is still recovering from an ACL injury from last fall. Getting playing time will be key to get him back into full speed. When healthy Zizzo has all the tools of being a very good midfielder so he will be a big coupe for whoever lands him.
The base cased scenario for Zizzo could be somewhere like Chivas USA who need depth and talent in their midfield. Zizzo is a UCLA standout so ending up in LA would probably be high on his list if possible. KC and D.C. could definitely use him as well but you never know with the way these lotteries go in MLS.
