- 2010 All-Star Game
Its been a couple hours since the 2010 MLS All-Star lineup was announced and now its all about who got snubbed and who doesn’t deserve to be there. Every year we go through a list of guys who deserve an All-Star nomination and each year we come up with a short list of guys who just missed the cut.
For me the following guys have a legitimate case of being on this year’s All-Star roster and likely will be once all the LA and Toronto guys aren’t there due to the league not scheduling the game properly around the CONCACAF Champions League games next week. Yes I know the one Seattle player listed below also has no shot of being named to the roster due to the CCL game that night but he definitely deserved the honor.
Goalkeeper: Jimmy Nielsen (Kansas City), Will Hesmer (Columbus)
Defense: Sean Franklin (LA Galaxy), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls), Adrian Cann (Toronto), and Marvell Wynne (Colorado Rapids).
Midfield: Bobby Convey (San Jose Earthquakes), Joel Lindpere (New York Red Bulls), Steve Zakuani (Seattle Sounders FC), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Eddie Gavin (Columbus), Andy Najar (D.C. United), and Michael Stephens (LA Galaxy).
Forwards: Chris Wondolowski (San Jose), Alvaro Saborio (Real Salt Lake), and Justin Braun (Chivas USA).
My biggest gripes with the players not called in today were Saborio, Convey and Lindpere. All have a reason to be there. But again more than likely these three will end up in Houston when some LA players decide not to play.
Who didn’t get called today that you thought would be there? I’m sure I missed someone so lets hear it.
