- 2010 Week 16, Wednesday Preview
So there is some soccer tonight folks. Week 16 gets started a little early with this eastern conference clash between the Columbus Crew and the Kansas City Wizards from Crew Stadium.
KC enters the match on a bit of a rough patch while the Crew continue to look like they will hold steady at the top of the conference. With the next three at home the Crew can look to extend their slim lead in the east over New York and Toronto.
The Wizards defense has been under attack a lot lately. Last week against Chivas USA they made some costly errors which allowed Justin Bruan to get two goals in. No doubt with the way Columbus plays offensively here the Wizards starting with Jimmy Conrad will have to lock things down in order to get any points tonight. Keeping the Crew wingers in check will be key as well.
Columbus will need to get their offense going early and rely as they usually do on Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
This is a trap game for the Crew with New York coming into town this weekend. They’ll want to get the three points from this game and not give any reason to let the Wizards in this one. I think it will be a bit tight but look for the Crew to continue their solid form in this one.
Player to watch out for: Chad Marshall – He and his fellow backline mates will need to keep things in check and not have any mental errors like they did against Houston last weekend. The All-Star should be okay considering KC’s attack is definitely no better than Houston’s.
WVH Prediction: Columbus 2, KC 1
