This may have been one of those weeks that saw a lot of movement. Maybe some post-World Cup fun if you will now that teams are settling in and are getting ready for the summer transfer window to officially open up this week. A few clubs are expecting some big additions while others will quietly make a splash here and there.

The top three remained the same in my eyes. Real Salt Lake could have moved up with the LA loss but I still see the Galaxy as the top side in the league right now.

The bottom saw another shift in movement as Kansas City takes over the bottom spot. I have no trouble placing them there with the way they’ve played over these last couple months. Some folks won’t like it while others will probably agree that Peter Vermes is on the hot seat for sure there.

Team Rank Record (W-L-T) Comments
(1) 11-2-3 36 pts. They left Landon Donovan home and Omar Gonzalez was suspended, in return they lost at one of the worst teams in the league. It was bound to happen eventually I suppose.
(2) 9-3-3 30 pts. Could I have bumped them to number one for winning ugly in Chicago while the Galaxy lost on the road? Sure but their win in Chicago really did little for me. Impressive that one of their worst performances ended in a win though.
(3) 8-2-4 28 pts. Not much to go on in the nil-nil draw at Houston.
(6) 5-2-7 22 pts. David Ferreira may be the most underrated player in the league right now.
(5) 8-5-2 26 pts. The Atlantic Cup goes to New York for the first time in what feels like forever. But the bigger news comes later this week for this club with possibly two new DPs.
(7) 6-4-4 22 pts. The old Rapids beat the new Rapids this weekend at BMO. Yup Preki put out five former Colorado players, I still find that weird.
(4) 6-4-4 22 pts. Something needs to be done about Gary Smith’s offense, it just doesn’t look as good as it should be.
(8) 6-4-4 22 pts. Very nice come from behind win at PPL Park. The Quakes quickly took the mojo away from the Union at their new venue.
(9) 5-7-4 19 pts. Another draw for the Dynamo, at least it wasn’t a loss. There’s just not much to go by with this club right now for me though.
(10) 4-5-5 17 pts. Probably should have at least gotten a point at home against RSL but when things don’t click losses happen.
(14) 4-9-2 14 pts. A big bump due to the play of Justin Bruan. Maybe it was the news of a new striker coming into town but whatever it was really fueled Bruan to play the best game of his career.
(16) 4-8-2 14 pts. The defense finally looked solid and Shalrie Joseph played his butt off in the big win over the Galaxy.
(15) 3-9-3 12 pts. The Black-and-Red haven’t done a whole lot lately but at least for the moment they’re out of the cellar.
(12) 4-8-4 16 pts. Dropping points yet again at home isn’t the way to go for the Sounders. The summer transfer window can’t open soon enough.
(11) 3-8-2 11 pts. A big drop after the loss at home but its really a shot of reality for this club. If they can’t hold leads at home in front of that crowd they deserve the drop.
(13) 3-8-3 12 pts. After this week I have no doubts in my mind that KC may be the worst club in the league right now. Just nothing impressive about this team anymore.
