- 2010 MLS All-Star Game, Manchester United
The holiday weekend is coming to a close. If you’re like me you have today off so you probably aren’t going to want to spend a lot of time in front of the computer. I know I have plenty of honey-do chores around the house to tackle today so posting here may be a bit light. But we’ll see.
I thought I’d kick this week off with my All-Star ballot instead of the usual weekend recap stuff. I’m waiting on some highlight videos to show up for this past weekend’s games and when they’re up I’ll try to have them here.
All-Star voting ends tomorrow on the league’s website. Anyone can vote. Its weird for me because I can go two directions with a fan ballot and a media ballot. I’m pretty much sticking to one ballot though and it is heavy on the LA Galaxy side. In fact due to the way the league made the ballot with some players sort of out of position it ended up very heavy for the LA Galaxy. But deservingly so.
So here is my ballot:
Goalkeeper: Donovan Ricketts (LA Galaxy)
Defense: Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Sean Franklin (LA Galaxy), and Ike Opara (San Jose Earthquakes)
Midfield: Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC), Joel Lindpere (New York Red Bulls), Guillermo Barros Schelotto (Columbus Crew), Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake), and David Ferreira (FC Dallas)
Forwards: Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy) and Edson Buddle (LA Galaxy)
Again, heavy LA with five of the 11 from the Galaxy. I nearly went to six from the Galaxy but held off on picking rookie Michael Stephens.
Just missing the cut for me here were: Juan Pablo Angel (New York), Alvaro Saborio (RSL), Bobby Convey (San Jose), Steve Zakuani (Seattle), Sebastian Le Toux (Philadelphia), Tim Ream (New York), Marvell Wynne (Colorado), and Matt Pickens (Colorado).
What’s your All-Star ballot looking like? Are you picking more of your favorites to face EPL giant Manchester United or are you going with guys who are enjoying a solid season so far?
