World Cup Ratings Up

Looks like people are actually starting to take notice of this soccer thing. According to reports both ABC, ESPN and Univision all have seen increases in their World Cup viewership and ratings.
The USA-England game on ABC was the most-viewed first-round game ever with a 7.3 household rating and 12,956,000 viewers. It also was the fifth most watched game on ABC.
Through five matches, ESPN and ABC averaged 3.4 million households and 4.9 million viewers — up 95% and 108%, respectively, vs. the first five games of the 2006 World Cup.
People are taking notice, that’s a good thing. I’ll have more on this subject in a bit today. I just thought these numbers were worth passing on.
