Kljestan On The Move?

One thing that some MLS fans may not want to see anytime soon, the loss of Sacha Kljestan to another league. It nearly happened before last year but it looks like it will finally come to be later this summer according to Keith Costigan who is reporting the Chivas USA midfielder has agreed to a deal with Belgian side Anderlecht.

If all goes well he will join the club later this summer when the transfer window re-opens. Anderlecht won last seasons Belgian First Division, qualifying for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Honestly this is a better fit for Kljestan than most leagues in Europe. He’s always been a guy that is streaky at best. Last year when his attempt to go to Scottish giant Celtic fell through he went into a bit of a shell for the majority of the season. Since the latter part of 2009 and into this year he’s been much better on the field for Chivas.

So what does this move mean for Chivas? Obviously it means getting some sort of transfer fee if the deal goes through like Costigan is reporting. Their midfield is young and will be fine though. I really like what they have there with Blair Gavin and Michael Lahoud and I can’t see them not improving down the road with those two. Sure they aren’t doing well at all right now but give it time and this team will start to win again.
