- 2010 Power Rankings, 2010 Week 10
One-third of the way through the season and not a whole lot of change in the Power Rankings from me. Only some movement near the bottom of the order. I had no issues in keeping the same top three, while the next three clubs aren’t far behind in my eyes.
After about the sixth club though it gets tricky. Clubs from there to the bottom just aren’t looking good for one reason or another. You could make a case for a couple clubs to be in different spots right now but based on recent form its hard to make serious arguments to move some clubs higher than where they are right now.
Feel free to discuss this below.
|1 (1)||9-0-2 29 pts.||Winning on the road used to be a tough thing even with Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan. In two games without them the Galaxy have two solid wins.|
|2 (2)||6-1-2 20 pts.||They did well with possession against LA but their finishing was lacking. I think this summer they desperately need to get another striker to help things out.|
|3 (3)||6-3-1 19 pts.||They just make it look easy at Rio Tinto Stadium. They’ve improved to unbeaten in their last 18 home matches.|
|4 (5)||5-3-1 16 pts.||The defense looks to be in good form and the offense is doing enough to skate by. I’m pretty sure they’ll be in the thick of things this season with the way things are looking.|
|5 (7)||5-4-1 16 pts.||Preki continues to prove why he is a solid coach, it wasn’t pretty at first but the results are starting to pile up in a big way.|
|6 (4)||5-3-1 16 pts.||They lacked a little punch in the midfield, maybe missing Andre Luiz was the reason there.|
|7 (6)||5-5-1 16 pts.||Losing at home to an expansion team is never a good thing. I could drop them further down but they’re lucky there is nothing but a mess below them.|
|8 (8)||5-5-0 15 pts.||You just don’t win when you get two red cards on the road.|
|9 (13)||2-2-6 12 pts.||Dallas has earned five points out of a possible nine on the road lately. Not great but then againt not horrible. This club continues not to win or lose.|
|10 (10)||2-4-3 10 pts.||Defensively the Fire don’t scare anyone these days, plus with the way they play at home they’ll have a horrible time trying to make it into the post season this year.|
|11 (14)||3-6-2 11 pts.||They rallied after the horrible injury to Preston Burpo. Having Shalrie Joseph back and playing well continues to do wonders for this club though.|
|12 (9)||3-5-3 12 pts.||I don’t guess anyone is scared to see this club on their schedule right now. Sigi Schmid has to get them in order again, but the thing is there are a lot of holes in that lineup that are starting to let in a lot.|
|13 (11)||2-5-2 9 pts.||I believe that sitter that Kei Kamara missed a while back sent this club in the wrong direction from where they were to start the year.|
|14 (15)||2-5-1 7 pts.||Just a strong effort for a change on the road. Defensively it wasn’t pretty but offensively things looked a whole lot better for Peter Nowak’s side. As the home games start to come up on the schedule this club could start to earn some points.|
|15 (12)||3-7-1 10 pts.||We see D.C. as a bad club but Chivas is really starting to get right up there in the discussion.|
|16 (16)||2-8-0 6 pts.||A win is a win at this point for this bunch. I think we need to see more academy players from them though, Bill Hamid has been solid in goal and Andy Najar may be one of the best youngsters I’ve seen in ages.|
