A interesting bit of news this evening to wrap up the week. The Portland Timbers as we all know are coming into Major League Soccer next year and are already looking for the man to lead them in the league as an expansion club.

According to news out of the Rose City the club is said to be looking at a couple candidates including Houston assistant John Spencer (who we’ve talked about on here already before with this job) and now former Chicago boss Denis Hamlett’s name is being thrown out there.

Former Chicago Fire coach Denis Hamlett was in town Thursday to meet owner Merritt Paulson and general manager Gavin Wilkinson about the team’s coaching position, according to The Oregonian.

I know Hamlett wasn’t the most popular guy in Chicago but building a club in his mold may fit him better anyways.

What do you Fire fans (or anyone else for that matter) think of Hamlett in Portland next year?
